Ever met anyone who loves to play the B.S.E. game? Blame Someone Else? Me too. Which is why at the heart of what I talk and write about are these four words:
‘Leadership begins with me.’
Yes, some of us will lead other people, but we all need to take responsibility for leading our own lives.
Agree?
Of course, we’re not born that way. In fact, humans are born as the most vulnerable and dependent animal on the planet. But we’re not supposed to stay that way. There comes a time when we need to take responsibility. For our actions and choices.
Sadly some people never do.
So when things go wrong in their lives they never think to look in the mirror for who might be responsible. They’d rather blame someone else.
I wonder what difference it would make to your organisation if everyone from the most senior person right through to the most junior lived and behaved from a place of ‘leadership beings with me’?
